Peterson House: The Old Brothel

Formerly known as the Gunanoot House, we have changed the name to reflect the man who built the brothel in the 1928. It was one of at least six brothels on one short street until the early '50s. With all the others collapsed or burned, Ripley Creek Inn purchased this relic of a by-gone era and moved it to become part of the inn. While renovating the inside, we kept as much of the original structure as possible. It has become one of our most-requested places to stay.

Book the entire house: $275 + taxes =$316.25 /night

 Ground floor:  Rm 500

The two bedrooms are just off the living room, and the shared bathroom is between. Using the second bedroom adds only $20 to the fee. This can be a great location for a family or small group because the shared kitchen and living room make this location quite spacious. There is a deck on the south side.

$135 + taxes = $155.25  (+ $20 for 2nd bedroom)

Upper level:  Rm 501

The Brothel's original staircase is still in place, leading from the living room to the upper suite. The south-facing window looks over the estuary to the harbour with mountains on both sides. There is an old cast-iron claw-foot tub with a shower option.  A second queen bed in the upstairs bedroom makes  good option for a family or friends.

$135 + taxes = $155.25  (+ $20 for 2nd bedroom)

In the common area of the brothel the original floors and doors are still in place, the old brick chimney has been saved, and the original stair case has been restored. It seems people always want to see what's upstairs!
